Sametinget
Exhibition System
Sametinget, Sweden, 2005

Architects: Ciro Najle, Mariliis Lilover

Continuous with the profile and character of the Swedish landscape, horizontal but rugged, dark but shiny, Sametinget is a corrugated ground that produces a calm but tortuous continuity between a fast-speed road on its public side and a low speed local and silent road on its domestic side. Its soft, hilly, green mildness serves as the ground from which various prismatic enlightened glass-roof peaks emerge, as if brute crystals.

The space is subdivided and qualified by the intricacies of the roof: a triangulated system along a symmetrical axis that connects the interiors to the sides and corners through fingers and wings. Two tetrahedrons host and organize the main areas of exhibitions and conferences. A haphazard perimeter branching out organizes different forms of access. Between the two, the circulatory systems are functionally differentiated.
